In the beginning of my technological career, my focus was to learn many word processing applications by applying for positions as a Word Processor. I learned to use any application that was used for writing letters, articles, books, and other documents that would be created using text.  

 

I got calls from clients who needed someone who was proficient in Multimate, WordPerfect, or Microsoft Works, and some others which were not as popular.  I developed a fundamental knowledge about these types of applications.  The functions were all about creating, editing, and formatting documents.  All I had to do was to study the manual to learn differing key strokes for the application.  

 

Working in various environments gave me the opportunity to learn even more about how computer systems operate. If a printer went down, I wanted to know why it went down. That knowledge is the key to analyzing technological needs and creating solutions. Some solutions included creating all types of documents.  I became a master at this.  I am currently Master-Certified in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
